What is climate therapy
Since 29 June 2023, Mariánské Lázně has been classified as a climatic spa.
According to the professional definition, climate therapy is the active, targeted and dosed use of climate components. It takes place under the supervision of a doctor and an important part of it is the alternation of various emotionally attractive activities according to the age of the client.
The mildly stimulating climate is suitable for the treatment of respiratory diseases in particular, it is suitable for convalescents after severe infections, for chronically respiratory clients with e.g. bronchial asthma.
A mildly irritating climate is suitable for all immunodeficient conditions and for people exposed to prolonged psychological stress and exposure to dusty and noisy environments. As with any therapy, climate therapy must be prescribed individually, taking into account the overall state of health and all diseases. A different climate therapy will be prescribed for an elderly cardiac or diabetic patient, another for a sports person with a skin condition, for example. Regular checks of blood pressure and heart rate are essential, regular checks of blood sugar concentration (glycaemia) in diabetics, and blood oxygen saturation in patients with breathing difficulties.
An integral condition of effective climate therapy is also the care of vegetation and watercourses in the spa area and its surroundings, not only for health reasons but also for aesthetic reasons. The positive properties of the climate are also combined with sensory perceptions during a spa stay. Acoustic, optical and olfactory stimuli affect the central nervous system and thus help to relieve health problems, and in chronically ill patients to prolong the remission of the disease or stop its progression.
